Happy April!

Happy spring from Tie Day!

It was a long winter, and it's still cold, but, technically, spring is here!

I wanted to update you on a few projects.

First off, our short film FUTURE PERFECT has it's own WEBSITE, twitter, and facebook! The film is going into final sound and color mix in the coming weeks, and is expected to be complete by May 31. Be sure to follow the twitter to get the latest updates! We hope to have a bunch of screenings come the fall.

We're also working on several documentaries. Most prominent: Our Iganga Community Brass Band project. The Iganga Community Brass Band (ICCB) is a performance group for children in Iganga, Uganda. ICCB is run by John Susi Mpandi, whose goal is to create a school and media center for the children of Iganga. As part of this effort, Mr Susi is bringing myself and trombonist/educator David Whitwell to Iganga. David will be there to educate the kids in music. I will be there to document the process, with the end goal of creating a feature length documentary about the community, the music, and the experience of the children. This will be the first of many trips.

Happy 2013 from Tie Day!

Happy New Year!

2013 is off to a great start for Tie Day. We have two projects that will be seeing the light of day in the coming months.

First off, We have our short film PURPLE. Purple was shot last May and took some time to complete owing to a few tricky moments. However, it is now complete and has been submitted to a few festivals. Our first teaser trailer is HERE. It's about a young man and his very difficult estranged parents. Purple is unique for us in that the film was created by the company in rehearsals, then refined and shot. We're very proud of the result and we think you will enjoy it.

Next up is FUTURE PERFECT. Future Perfect is easily our biggest film yet. Shot on RED and the result of a $10,000 kickstarter, Future Perfect is the story of Xia, a Chinese student struggling with the complex and frustrating world of English as a Second Language in New York City. Our six-day shoot was shut down for a few weeks owing to Hurricane Sandy, but finished in Mid-November. It's currently in editing, and we hope to have it finished in the coming month. More content is on its way, including the Website. Get an idea of the genesis HERE and then check out some PRODUCTION STILLS. Also, you can read an article about the film HERE.

We have a few other projects in the works, including some documentary work and a burgeoning feature (Tie Day's first). More details in the coming weeks and months.

Thanks for reading and watching.

TIE DAY MEDIA: KICKSTARTER LAUNCH - 'FUTURE PERFECT'

Hello everyone,

Summer has been a busy one for us. We're in pre-production for our biggest project yet, FUTURE PERFECT.

FUTURE PERFECT is the story of one student's struggle in the complex and frustrating world of English as a Second Language in New York City. This film has been in various stages of development for four years, since Writer/Director Liam Billingham began teaching ESL in New York City, and Tie Day co-founder Jun Igarashi began studying ESL in New York. It's a hugely personal project, and one we are very excited about.

FUTURE PERFECT will be produced by Lars Fuchs and Greg Starr. It will be shot by photographer/cinematographer Chris Montgomery. The crew will be made up of classmates at the City College of New York and film professionals from all over New York City. All graphic design is being done by Prague-based artist Ken Nash. We've lucky to have an exciting project and a wondeful group.

We are currently fund-raising for the film on kickstarter. Please check it out HERE!

Thanks so much!

We're currently in pre-production on a short film, currently titled 'Purple', and a documentary about ESL students living and surviving in New York City. This documentary is a precursor to a much project called 'FUTURE PERFECT', which will be discussed in future months.

Additionally, we're in editing on one documentary and one new short
film we hope to premiere around Christmas! Exciting times at Tie Day

TIE DAY MEDIA: September update

Things have been mostly quiet around these parts these days, but we've a lot of updates to share with you, both about our work and work we've contributed to. To begin with, our short film ALL DRESSED UP is in post-production and has been selected to appear at the BIG APPLE FILM FESTIVAL in November. We premiered DISPLAY last year, and are excited to be returning to this fun filmmaker friendly festival. Watch the trailer for All Dressed Up.

Also, our friends over at WOODY GUTHRIE DREAMS have opened to great success at Theater For the New City downtown. We shot a trailer for them, which you can view HERE.

Lastly, our production of HUMAN FRUIT BOWL opened to great acclaim in Prague back in July, and we were thrilled to see the show win the Kreativni cena (Creative Award) at the Prague Fringe. The show also just recently opened in Amsterdam, and will also be playing the HONG KONG MICROFEST in October. Should you be anywhere near Hong Kong, check it out. That's it for now. We'll be updating with more details soon. Hope everyone is having a great beginning of fall!

TIE DAY MEDIA: May update

Tie Day has had a busy few months, and we're here with some updates. First off, our first theatrical endeavor, HUMAN FRUIT BOWL, will be premiering at the Prague Fringe Festival in just under two weeks. Liam and actress Harmony Stempel are traveling to Prague in the next week to participate in the festival. For more information on the wonderful Prague Fringe, click HERE.

We're also quite busy with our video work. We've been working with Tie Day regular Ben Thomas on a trailer for Woody Guthrie Dreams, a play premiering in New York in September. The trailer concept was created by Ben and actor/playwright Michael Flanagan Smith, directed by Liam and shot by Jun, who created some amazing images. We look forward to premiering that shortly.

Additionally, we've just shot a video for MARKET LAUNCH GROUP, a new technology based consulting firm. The films will feature Tie Day regulars Kevin Condardo and Sarah Painter. More details forthcoming.

Finally, we have a few smaller projects in the works, and one short film which will be done in the summer after a long period of post production.

As you can tell, it's a busy time. Keep following us on TWITTER for updates. Have a great month!

TIE DAY Update: March 19, 2011

Hello Tie Day fans! We're pleased to announce not only a new promo, but an entirely new venture for Tie Day Media.

Tie Day Media is co-producing, along with our dear friend and frequent collaborator Harmony Stempel, an original show called HUMAN FRUIT BOWL, which stars Harmony herself and is written by New York City based playwright Andrea Kuchlewska.  Liam Billingham is directing the one-woman show, which explores the relationship between the artist and the model, using the historically controversial relationship between French painter Pierre Bonnard and his model/lover Renee Monchaty as a basis. Monchaty reportedly killed herself in a bathtub upon hearing of Bonnard's marriage.

The show will be premiering at the Prague Fringe Festival in May, and we're looking for funding to take the show to Prague on kickstarter. You can find out more, and see the promotional video we shot for the show. The video features stunning cinematography by Tie Day founder Jun Igarashi, and stars Harmony and Liam, along with Samuel Wade Levy, a New York City based artist who is contributing work to the project. Take a look HERE.

Well, that's all from Tie Day for now. We are still in the editing phase of our short film ALL DRESSED UP, but expect some photos soon!

Have a nice weekend everyone!
